Here’s a picture of my desk! I bought a couple of balloons and decorations to celebrate the Chinese New Year. I used magnets to hold up the balloons. I know, I’m such a genius. On my pinboard are some cards from friends. Some were written nearly a decade ago. For example, the green card with the character for friendship was given to me by my elementary school friends Kristin and Natalie. I used to tell them all about Three Kingdoms all the time and they dubbed me, “Queen Adela of China,” haha. The one in lighter shades of green depicts the Great Wall of China and a Chinese man who is supposed to be Zhuge Liang. Jessica, my best friend from elementary school, filled it with a drawing of us playing Dynasty Warriors and our inside jokes. She wrote “ZL + AH” in a heart on the Great Wall, haha. She gave it to me for my 14th birthday. I don’t speak to her as much anymore, but I still carry around this card. It’s kind of hard to believe that these cards survived so long and have followed me here to China. Elizabeth gave me the long letter in blue right before I left to China and it has some of the nicest things I’ve ever read–really! The others are from my mom and other friends and it’s nice to put them all up in one spot. Decorating my room has been fun. I like to fill things with color and I think I’ve done a good job of it so far! -- source link
