30 Day Anime Challenge - Day 25OK, so day 25 asked me to specify the saddest anime death. My only problem with this is, I seem to be drawn to anime series with sad death scenes (Clannad, Elfen Lied, AnoHana and H20 - Footprints In The Sand being just a FEW good examples). So I decided to set a restriction, and use a death scene when the character actually STAYED dead. You’d be surprised how hard this was for me to find. ;-;However, I did eventually decide on the death of Maes Hughes. Like I mentioned in a previous entry, Hughes is one of my favourite male characters, and he had such a brilliant impact on the storyline of Full Metal Alchemist, whether it was just helping Winry, being the genius to actually figure things out, or simply taking the edge off an otherwise morbid theme. You could argue that Maes contributed more to the anime than pretty much everyone up to Ed and Al themselves.Anyway, I find this scene sad because of how much he meant. Not to much this scene, more the subsequent scenes afterwards. Especially with little Elicia (his daughter, shown in the picture)“Mommy, why are they burying Daddy?!”It’s quotes like that that stick with you for a long time. Because there’s nothing more pure than the innocence of a child, and when one has to suffer something this traumatic, it makes things so much harder. For everyone. -- source link
