NYCxDESIGN’s design week – a citywide design celebration - is just around the corner. The week-long celebration of design runs May 8th-19th. This year the Brooklyn Museum partnered with two major Brooklyn design fairs to celebrate design in Brooklyn during the opening weekend. We teamed up with WantedDesign fair at Industry City in Sunset Park & BKLYN DESIGNS fair at the Brooklyn Expo Center in Greenpoint to provide free shuttle service between the Museum and both Brooklyn-based design fairs May 9th-10th, which are open 11am-6pm. We look forward to visitors enjoying Brooklyn designs, and our exhibitions: Kehinde Wiley & Basquiat. If you forgot mother’s day this year (again) nothing says I love you like a weekend of art and design. There are also tickets still available for our Mother’s Day Brunch. Our Decorative Arts Curator, Barry Harwood will be helping us to celebrate design by leading and participating in two panels at WantedDesign in addition to offering a tour of 19th Century Modern Design on Saturday May 9th. Leading up to design week, he’ll be sharing some design objects from Brooklyn’s original maker scene - in the 1890s and other modern 19th century treasures from our collection. Stay tuned! And join us in Brooklyn for the design fair shuttle. We’re also offering some bonus perksfor all our design-loving Members including free admission to WantedDesign’s Manhattan fairand all programming the following weekend, May 16th-17th, as well as Collective Design on Friday, May 15th. We’ll be emailing details soon sokeep your eyes on your inboxes!Posted by Danny Tuss -- source link
