gffa:Hi! We can’t say that with absolute certainty, because Din never said he was part of Death Watch, though we’ve had clues that have pointed in that direction. In the flashbacks (which are almost guaranteed to be Clone Wars-era, given the B2 Super Battledroids) we see Din being picked up by a (helmeted) Mandalorian as part of a group of them who all had this symbol on their arms:That is very much the Death Watch symbol we saw from The Clone Wars, as we saw when they bombed Sundari on Mandalore. The leader of Death Watch was Pre Vizsla (note the spelling) who was head of Clan Vizsla, but we see him without his helmet on:Yet, if Din was picked up by that group of Mandalorians–and he said he was raised in “the Fighting Corp”–why would he have been taught all his life among them that they could only remove their helmets in front of others once and then never put it back on? Pre Vizsla clearly didn’t believe that.It seems like that might be the case, because Bo-Katan takes off her helmet and Din reacts with shock, thinking that she’s not Mandalorian and expresses surprise all throughout the conversation about how there’s any other way to even be a Mandalorian:Din doesn’t even know that there are other ways to be a Mandalorian, he doesn’t even know what Bo-Katan is referring to when she says “Child of the Watch” and Death Watch itself is never mentioned, only that the Watch broke away from Mandalorian Society in an attempt to re-establish the ancient way. It’s likely that they were part of the Vizsla family but went with the new group, then either they were secretive enough that Din was never even told there were other types of Mandalorians or the Clone Wars segued so quickly into the Purge that there was never enough time to explain the differences to him and possibly none of the elders survived to teach them. (Though, Bo-Katan doesn’t seem surprised that he doesn’t know, so this is something they’ve run into before, apparently.)But Bo-Katan, having been part of Death Watch herself, doesn’t mention that that’s what they were, so it’s probably more likely that they were what she said–an offshoot of zealots of the main branch of the Death Watch. The Vizsla Clan was involved somehow, but Paz didn’t exactly seem to be their leader or anything, so maybe it was just various members of various Mandalorian clans, like there might have been offshoots of the Kryze or Wren or Rook or Saxon in there, too! -- source link
