lady-eleanor-vane:“Her death holds an extra tragic tinge because while Gates, Miranda, Vane and Teach all died standing up for what they believed in, Eleanor’s capacity for self-delusion lasts until her final breath. Flint’s lie about Rogers’s culpability in the Spanish raid is an act of love, but in in true Eleanor fashion, instead of appreciating the love coming from someone in front of her (Max, Vane and finally Flint), she’s spending her energy on someone who doesn’t deserve it (Richard Guthrie, Rogers).” — Lauren Sarner (XXX).this is why her death hurt so much, she died still believing that rogers was a good man, and she burned the bridges with people that actually cared about her, people that would’ve forgiven her if she apologized and joined them, maybe not right away but i believe forgiveness would come, she desperately wants to be in control and to be loved, and love came 2nd for her, and its not like she’d have been in charge if her side had won, rogers would be in charge and eleanor would have to behave like a good english wife, eleanor chose this life and it sucks cause she’d have been happier with the people she screwed over, max was able to realize that all the power in the world means nothing if you don’t have the people you love, she turned down power for anne, eleanor never quite learned that lesson, and it cost her, i know people hate eleanor but i honestly just feel sorry for her, i think she’s a good person that was messed up by her father, if richard had accepted her and loved her then she wouldn’t be so desperate to prove that she can run the island (tags via sgxena16) -- source link
