Super cute thunder oni nestled in a cloud (seen on). In traditional Japanese art, raijin (thunder spirits) are usually depicted as more fearsome beings (see 2nd picture).The 3 comas in pearl-like shapes is a motif called mitsudomoe. It is used as an auspicious symbol, like on taiko drums which were then played to ward of evil. By association, this motif has also come to represent booming thunder.If you have never seen a Taiko representation, check this video of the famous Kodo troupe.
