My late comments about the news concerning the Yuri!!! on Ice movie No, I haven’t forgot to fangirl online about the news in the midst of my ascending Free! S3 feels. I just don’t fangirl. Yes, the concert was mind-blowing and it would be really exciting if they could bring this show overseas (no matter what they say, I seriously doubt that they will - call me pessimistic, I can take it), but I can’t fangirl about a movie that I have NO CHANCE to see in the theaters. I am equally frustrated with the struggle it takes to watch any Japanese movies (on DVD, online or anything) months after the original theater release dates and sometimes even months after the official DVD release. (With all the hassle due to splitting a 12-ep series into 4 DVDs, each carefully priced above custom limits.) No, I can’t fangirl for this. And yes, I am disappointed, because I expected an announcement of a new anime season. I will fangirl for the movie when I can see premier dates in the capital where I live. Or at least the closest next capital. (I’m lucky, there are some other capitals within a day’s drive.) If everything goes ‘as usual’, I will have get nothing of the Yuri!!! on Ice movie in 2019 but the happy reviews of English-speaking fans living in Japan and then later some gifs and screenshots from those who buy the Japanese DVD or Blue Ray editions. (Big thanks for sharing, really. Without your contribution most of the fans would be deprived even of these bits and pieces.) And this is the point where my fangirl mode loses its intensity, because I HATE being left out. Because with every movie, my beloved universes become richer with something I can’t harvest for myself. I have got tired of this. Maybe I am just getting out of it, I don’t know, Maybe I just don’t know the necessary channels. (I am a die-hard shopper, believe me. I wouldn’t hesitate to place an order in a webshop from Mars if they offered a reasonable shipping fee.) Or maybe I am just angry and jealous because I can’t go into a theater and watch Kuroko no Basuke movies, Free! movies, Kenshin movies and Yuri!!! on Ice movies in my hometown and I can’t buy Pash, and Newtype and Animedia at every local newspaper stand. So, if this is anything within my (pretty far-stretching) reach, I will fangirl the hell out of it. If not, then I am going to do the same as I did when the Kenshin, Free! and Kuroko no Basuke movies came out: I’ll try to forget that they exist, and re-watch the anime seasons again and again and again. Until a next anime season is announced. THEN I’ll fangirl again. -- source link
