Ouroboros / 自食惡果 (2017)exhibited at ‘Art Lab’ (Central Saint Martins Archway Studios) on Dec 5th, 2017Mixed media installation including: a projection of a recorded public performance where the artist placed a table and three plastic wrapped food items (sliced carrots, cheese sandwich, and organic banana) in the middle of an apartment complex garden. Casually but elegantly, she started to eat the plastic wrappings around the food instead of the actual food itself. At the end of the performance, she climbed into a womb composed of plastic bags sewn together with red yarn. An umbilical cord made of a red yard was attached to both her shirt and the womb. The recorded video was then processed and reversed to show a person climbing out of her own womb and starting to spit out pieces of plastic that eventually completed the plastic wrappings around each food items.plastic ‘womb’ blown up by a fanon the wall: two pictures of a person lying inside the plastic womb in a fetal positionon the plinth: a mirror with slogans that said “dis-moi ce que tu manges, je te dirai qui tu es” (French, translation: tell me what you eat and I will tell you who you are) and “Der Mensch ist, was er ißt” (German, translation: Man is what he eats).on the floor: scattered food props used in the performanceFor more details on the exhibit: http://yvneyen.tumblr.com/art -- source link
