priscillajeanohare:#this scene is depressing as hell#but it really is a beautiful death scene#because boromir has just committed this huge betrayal#he will never truly be able to apologize#and he knows he is going to die#but he’s able to find peace because aragorn makes him this promise#he becomes a king in boromir’s eyes#and he knows that he will keep that promise#he didn’t sacrifice himself for nothing#in fact he sacrificed himself simply for merry and pippin#that would have been enough#boromir’s death makes aragorn deadly serious about everything from here on out#about following his destiny#about saving his friends#about standing against evil and taking back the throne of gondor#he sees boromir and knows the strength and honor of his own people#what they are willing to sacrifice themselves for#and it renews his faith#it opens his eyes#and that is how you give a character a truly good and meaningful death via ( @lucy-moderatz) -- source link
