Today is the first annual LGBTQ Disability Day! Intersectional feminism embraces all communities, especially those who can experience multiple levels of discrimination. Today, Bitch celebrates those in the LGBTQ disability community.Alice Wong, author of the Disability Visibility Project, says this space needs to be very inclusive: “It’s isolating when you’re in queer spaces, you might be the only disabled person or, sometimes in the disability community, definitely for the queer LGBTQ, they’re often the only one there. And, I think there’s a lot of ableism and homophobic stuff that happens within both environments.”For a list of some online resources on queerness and disability, GayRights has a great list here and Queerability is an LGBTQ and disability rights advocacy tumblr.graphic from GayWrites -- source link
