The New Model (c.1884). Rosalie Lorraine Gill (American, 1867-1898). Oil on canvas. The Baltimore Museum of Art.Several of William Merritt Chase’s students, including Gill, painted his studio in the Tenth Street Studio Building in Greenwich Village. Gill depicted a young woman hovering in a doorway, holding her hat. Gill emulated her instructor in choice of subject and treatment and added an anecdotal touch with a female model who hesitates nervously between two rooms. -- source link
