Happy International Women’s Day! Today, we are featuring a signed copy of Emma Goldman’s autobiography. Also featured is the speech that Harry Weinberger gave at Emma Goldman’s funeral. Emma Goldman (1869-1940) was a prominent anarcha-feminist. She wrote and spoke about prisons, war, freedom of speech, religion, gay rights, capitalism and other issues. Here is a succinct quote from her book “Anarchism and Other Essays” that sums up her philosophy:“Anarchism, then, really stands for the liberation of the human mind from the dominion of religion; the liberation of the human body from the dominion of property; liberation from the shackles and restraint of government. Anarchism stands for a social order based on the free grouping of individuals for the purpose of producing real social wealth; an order that will guarantee to every human being free access to the earth and full enjoyment of the necessities of life, according to individual desires, tastes, and inclinations”Images from:Emma Goldman’s Living my Life.
