Banksia helianthaThe genus Banksia belongs to the Protea Family, and it has been enlarged in recent years by the inclusion within it of all the species formerly put in Dryandra. Species of Banksia can be found in the eastern part of Australia as well as the west, but the Dryandra group is especially numerous in the west, where the rainfall is mostly in winter. As a Dryandra, B. heliantha was named Dryandra quercifolia, which is a reference to its leaves looking like those of an oak. When the species was moved into Banksia, its name was changed to Banksia heliantha. It comes from Western Australia’s southern coast. The photos above show the same flower cluster when it first came into bloom (upper), and then a week later (lower).-Brian -- source link
