It was just a matter of which one would have been first.Once their confessions were given, their real torture would have begun in earnest. For there literally were no limits to the cruelty to be inflicted on a witch.They most certainly would have been tortured further and more cruelly to ascertain the names of others in their coven so they too could be brought forth for interrogation.And the final, most severe and violent, torture before being taken to the stake. That for punishment for their unholy acts they most assuredly committed while in the service of Satan. Or simply torture for tortures sake.Of course this meant that they would visit and revisit the torture chambers of the witch-tribunals many, many times during their captivity and their final trip to the stake in which by that point, they probably welcomed just to end their ordeals at the unmerciful hands of the witch-finders!!! -- source link
