I went to Golden Valley to look at the dogs for adoption, but kept comparing every dog to my beloved Min Pin. I decided to walk through the cat area. I was walking next to the kennels, but not really paying much attention, when suddenly, a little black paw reached out and whacked me on the arm! I looked in at the offender, and saw a little black fluffy kitten staring at me with huge green/yellow eyes. He squeaked out a little “meow.” That was it. There was a card on his kennel indicating a potential medical condition. After talking with the volunteers, I learned that this poor little kitten had been exposed to ringworm. Although he was showing no signs, it was something to be aware of. According to his records, he had also been treated for nearly every parasite in his short little ten weeks of life. I visited with the kitten, named “Fuzz,” and fell in love with his spunky spirit. In the next several weeks, “Fuzz” did develop ringworm, as well as passing it on to my older kitty Lewis. My vet worked with me, and I was very lucky that the topical cream worked well on both cats, along with fastidious daily bleaching/cleaning of the rest of the house. It was a small price to pay. “Fuzz” brought laughter and love and play back into a home that was in desperate need of some cheer. His name was changed to “Earl Lee,” and he is now a happy, healthy, spunky 3-year-old. He loves to follow his big brother Lewis around and learn all about how to be a “big kitty.” They enjoy wrestling, chasing, and snuggling with each other. Thank you to the Golden Valley Humane Society for all that you do in ensuring that the animals in your care are able to find homes. -- source link
