holyhobbitshit:shinitama:sadness-or-euphoria:Doctor, this is why I love you. Right here.Vincent van Gogh was a man who is somewhat famous for his mental instability. He later ended his own life. For the Doctor to go and show him that his art mattered, and that his existence mattered…is amazing. And I wish someone could have shown this amazing artist how much he contributed to the world.I wish the Doctor could show everyone how they mattered, because everybody does matter. In our own small way, we change the world simply by existing.I will always, always, ALWAYS reblog this when it’s on my dash.I don’t just cry when I watch this episode, I weep. Because I watch it from the standpoint of an artist, and I know exactly how much this would mean to me.No matter how much we love our art (whether that’s painting, sculpting, music, writing, whatever), there are always moments of doubt when we wonder if it’s worth the hardship. Because art is hard work, both mentally and emotionally. True works of art come from the heart, which means we constantly expose the most vulnerable parts of ourselves. It isn’t easy, and it isn’t even always fun. We do it because we feel compelled to create and to share something of our insight into the human existence. But is it worth it?If someone took me 100 years into the future to a class that was studying one of my books, I would be overwhelmed with emotion. To know my work mattered that much… I can’t even tell you how much it would mean.So when I see the look on Vincent’s face in the museum and hear the euphoria in his voice when he tells the Doctor “This changes everything,” I know exactly where he’s coming from…And I weep. -- source link
