strategiczergface:blitzenluft:strategiczergface:blitzenluft:strategiczergface:hibtory:im so sorry france- i couldn’t resistand evidently neither can youFrance has the most successful military record in history.Dat 20th century military record thoWWI: French VictoryWWII: Initial French defeat, eventual French victory1958 Coup: French victoryAlgerian War: French military victoryFirst Indochina War: French defeatSecond Shaba War: French victoryDjibouti Civil War: French victoryChadian-Libyan Conflict: French victoryIn total, if we count WWII, that’s two losses to six victories. And this is an incomplete list.I mean, the strongest standing army in the world getting 100% shit on in Fall Gelb kinda gives them a bad rep so I wouldn’t give them any credit for WW II, nor would I give them whole credit for WW I. I’ll admit I am ignorant of this 1958 coup nor am I educated in these African bush wars, but I do know that Indochina was a pretty pitiful display.“nor would I give them whole credit for WW I” ALRIGHT LISTEN THE FUCK UPBRITAIN DIDN’T WIN WWI. IT WASN’T US INFLUENCE, EITHER.IT WAS FRANCEAlright, now to explain. When the German troops swung around with the von Schlieffen Plan, they rushed through Belgium and tried to overwhelm the French by flanking them on a strategic level. British forces were sent with the French to counter this assault. The BEF got fucking slaughtered. The BEF killed twice as many as they lost, but this was nothing to the Germans, and the BEF had lost 1/10th of its total force. In total during the Border War, they took 30% casualties. 30% casualties in the opening days of the war. The French, on the other hand, fucking held. And when the time came, they ground the German offensive to a fucking halt at the Marne, no British help required. The Brits, in fact, took a tiny role in the battle, basically guarding the French trenches. As the war dragged on, “British” operations more often than not used French muscle. In the Somme, which is seen as a great British battle, the French constituted over half of the Allied forces. In all five Battles of Ypres, the French hugely outnumbered forces. At one point, there were only roughly 150,000 Brits form a force of 3.5 million Frenchmen. It wasn’t the US that won the war, either. After Russia left the war, theGermans took all the freed-up men and launched an all-out offensive on the Western Allies. Fighting there were 8 British divisions, 2 American divisions, and FORTY-FOUR FRENCH DIVISIONS. The myth that America scared Germany out of the war is false. The fact that the French slaughtered 170,000 Germans over the course of 25 days forced the Kaiser to hang up his pinkelhaube. Don’t ever fucking discredit the 1,150,000 men who died to protect France. One of the things that amazes me about the Battle of France is that while at the same time France had signed a surrender with Germany, the French were mercilessly trouncing the Italian invasion force. On the same day the French Government signed the armistice with Germany, the French Army was preparing a full scale counterattack against the Italian Army with plans to invade the Northern Italy itself. Hitler had to force the French to surrender to the Italians as well, which was the only thing which saved the Italian Army from destruction at the hands of the French. -- source link
