For my first gun review I am going to review my first pocket gun. The North American Arms .22 Mini-Revolver. I bought this little mouse gun mostly because of its novelty value. I mean, lets face it, this little peashooter is cute. With a 1 1/8” barrel, an overall length of 3 3/8 inches, and a total weight of 6.6 ounces, this is quite possibly the smallest production handgun in the world. However, that is just about all it has going for it.First lets start with the good things about this gun.Quite possibly it is the most concealable firearm that you can buy. Seriously, it is a deep cover gun, you can conceal this anywhere, anytime. If you wanted to you could stow this pistol up your rectum (Peashooter85 does not recommend). It is one of the safest single action revolvers on the market. North American Arms makes all their revolvers with a special safety notch system in which you can rest the hammer in a notch between the chambers. That way the hammer is not sitting on a chamber and you can fully load the revolver without having to worry about it going off in your pants. It is well made. It is not a cheap junk gun or saturday night special. This is an heirloom gun. It will last you a lifetime and you will be able to pass it down to your grandchildren. It has lots of accessories. Believe it or not Laserlyte makes a laser sight for around $90, although I bet sighting it in will be a pain. North American Arms makes a special grip that allows the pistol to fold up like a pocket knife. They also make a belt buckle holster. And believe it or not Kabar makes a bayonet for it (although the practical function of this accessory alludes me).It is affordable at $180-$230 Also can be found in .22 mag, .22 short, .17hmr, and .22 cap and ball (what!?).The novelty value. Girls will think it’s cute. Guys will laugh when they see it.Finally the bad.Its accuracy sucks. I can shoot 1” groups at about 1 foot. Sootch00 on YouTube calls it his “get off me gun”. It is for close combat, nothing else. The pistol is small. If you don’t have a good grip it will jump out of your hand like a grasshopper. It is single action. So no fast follow up shots. Not that you could make fast shots even if it were double action. It is slow to reload. Remove cylinder pin, remove cylinder, punch out spent shells with pin, reload cylinders, and re-insert cylinder with pin.It is underpowered, your not going to get much muzzle velocity from a one inch barrel.Despite its flaws it is still a nice little gun to have and will always hold a special place in my heart. It is a good little gun and has always served me well. -- source link
