docgold13:365 DC Comics Paper Cut-Out SuperHeroes - One Hero, Every Day, All Year…March 17th - Green Arrow As the young heir to a wealthy corporate dynasty called Queen Industries, Oliver Queen was a wild socialite. His life changed when he was involved in a shipwreck and became marooned on a tropical island. An accomplished archer, Queen built his own bow and a quiver of arrows and survived on the island for an entire year. The experience changed him and, when he was finally rescued and brought back to civilization, he decided to rededicate himself to using his skills and resources to help others. Along with reallocating a sizable portion of Queen Industries toward charitable causes, Queen took on the guise of Green Arrow, using his near peerless skills as an archer to fight crime as a costumed super hero. As he took on greater and greater threats, Queen developed specialized arrows to aide him (such as smoke bomb arrows, stun arrows, sleeping gas arrows… even an arrow that inflates into an oversized boring glove). After rescuing The Justice League on a mission the hero was asked to join their ranks and he has served as a member of multiple iterations of the team. Green Arrow has frequently partnered with Green Lantern (Hal Jordan) and has also been a member of The Outsiders. He recently married his longtime love, the fellow hero known as Black Canary. The Earth 2 version of Green Arrow served among The All-Squad Squadron and helped to form The Seven Soldiers of Victory. Actor Justin Hartley portrayed the hero in the television series Smallville; whereas Stephen Amell has played the character in the shows Arrow, The Flash, Supergirl, Legends of Tomorrow and Batwoman. The Green Arrow first appeared in the pages of More Fun Comics #73 (1941) -- source link
