Hike #45 - Fort Duffield State Park, West Point, KY. Fort and Red Trail loop, ~3.7 miles Contrary to most state parks I’ve visited, this one was not only completely deserted, but also in a noticeable degree of neglect. This is doubly sad not only because this is place offers some of the most striking and easily accessible vistas in the Louisville area, but also because it’s a part of American history. There is a Union Civil War cemetery here in addition to the sagging earthen remains of the fort and slowly collapsing recreations of cabins.
