My top ten dresses from the Golden Globes–aside from Lady Gaga, who was my number one best-dressed but kind of exists in a category all her own because no one else has a red carpet history that includes a meat dress and arriving to a show in an egg. Dakota Fanning in Armani Prive - A modern princess moment. Surprisingly, she doesn’t look washed out even though the dress is ultra-pale; also, look up the picture from the back and you’ll see the bows down the center seamGemma Chan in Valentino Haute Couture - Great color, and she’s got the aplomb to pull off such a funky design.Regina King in Alberta Ferretti Limited Edition - She looks like an award (although not quite as much as Lucy Boynton does), and she also looks comfortable–as much as red carpet dresses can be comfortable, I guess.Emmy Rossum in Monique Lhuillier - I don’t think I’ve ever seen Emmy in an unflattering dress. This is pretty simple, but it gets the job done for a girl who’s not nominated/in a nominated show but who still wants to make an impactLupita Nyong’o in Calvin Klein by Appointment - I mean, it’s just not fair. She’s so beautiful. Sometimes curved necklines are hard to handle (my mother is on record as hating them), but I love it here and how it kinda goes with the “flowing waterfall cascade” theme the dress has. Sandra Oh in Atelier Versace - Homegirl wore three great dresses, but this one had to be my favorite. The fit is perfect, the slit’s not too high, and I personally think everyone looks better in red, so–bravo.Thandie Newton in Michael Kors Collection - Thandie brought Studio 54 to the Globes! Like Regina King, this dress also looks pretty comfy for a red carpet event.Lucy Boynton in Celine - I wouldn’t expect gold to look this good on Lucy–especially with her platinum blonde hair–but girlfriend looks like a straight-up Golden Globe! I really love the vintage cut of the dress, too.Catherine Zeta-Jones in Elie Saab - It’s not the most original or daring look of the night, but good goddamn she looks good in that color. If I had to pick one word to describe her, it’d be “regal.”Janelle Monae in Chanel - Because she is probably the only person on the planet who could pull this off and make it look not just good, but hoity-toity-film-award-ceremony ready. -- source link
