missharpersworld: I think the misconception about submissiveness that bugs me the most is that we’re weak, brainless creatures who submit because we are incapable of taking care of ourselves or making our own decisions. This couldn’t be further from the truth. In fact most submissives I have come to know, myself included, are incredibly strong women who most others would see as strong and dominant women in their every day lives. I’ve had plenty of interactions with kink-shamers on tumblr - people who tell me that bdsm is anti-feminist and abusive and that being a submissive is disgusting and setting women’s rights back fifty years. I’ve often stood up against this shaming when presented with it and have done my best to try to educate others about the truths of what being a submissive means and the D/s dynamic, but I have also found that sometimes it’s best to realize - as Mark Twain said - “You can’t teach a pig to sing. It will only waste your time and annoy the pig.” Some people will never understand the D/s dynamic or submission and have no desire to understand only misjudge and ridicule. as a submissive I agree with this 100% thanks for posteing that -- source link
