Join us for ArtXchange, a daylong learning experience for curious and passionate K–12 teachers who want to build bridges between the classroom and the art world. In this workshop, investigate the relationship between art, literacy, and culture through the special exhibition Soul of a Nation: Art in the Age of Black Power, and integrate best practices for museum and art education using Brooklyn Museum resources and our collection. Then, use modeling, research, reflection, and application to develop unit plans and design classroom experiences that build students’ skills in analyzing, interpreting, and responding to sociopolitical issues through works of art. Combining art-making, literacy in the visual arts, and interaction with Museum professionals, this course illuminates each strand of NYC’s Blueprint for Teaching and Learning in Visual Arts.Apply soon! Applications are due by November 9. Questions? Email us at school.programs@brooklynmuseum.org.Posted by Keonna HendrickCliff Joseph. Blackboard, 1969. Oil on canvas.
