maximum-marrs:vampireapologist:mudmossmolly:It’s been a long day. I took a nap in my car between classes earlier, but I got to have an exciting afternoon finally starting to learn how to handle venomous snakes! My professor started me off with a Northern copperhead, one of Ohio’s three venomous snakes. We only handle the snakes for educational purposes, or to move them while we clean their homes/give them food or water, so I’ve been waiting all semester to be here at the right time! The snake was so calm and patient with me; she didn’t seem to mind me picking her up and putting her down over and over again while I learned! Follow My Field Journal!Hey all! This was one of my favorite moments in my academic career, learning how to handle venomous snakes, such as copperheads and rattlesnakes! If you’d like to see more of what I’ve learned, check out @mudmossmolly, my field journal blog! And if you’d like to help support me in my studies as I try to graduate after my last semester this fall, please consider donating $5 to my tuition fundraiser! More details ar eon the fundraiser page! Thank you! They seem to be really chill as long as you’re not an active threat. This one seems to know by now you’re not a threat. So yay!In this case, this particular snake was just extremely used to being handled. I of course wouldn’t mess with a copperhead in the wild for no good reason. But this one had seen it all by the time I was learning with her! -- source link
