gffa:allthingskenobi:allthingskenobi:OBI-WAN APPRECIATION MONTHDay 14: ‘Obi-Wan Love’ Free Day → Obi-Wan & His FamilyI’ve lived my life in the structure of the Jedi Order. Yes, it was an organization with a goal — but it was also a family. I said it myself: Anakin was my brother. I had many brothers and sisters. And fathers and mothers. And even a strange little green uncle.Bonus +I try not to do this too often, but so much agreement with these tags…#Oohhh this is such a nice take on love in his life!! #thank you for this #he was surrounded by people he loved #it doesn’t have to be romantic love only #to make him relatable or human to us #obi wan kenobi (via @lordvaders)obi-wan’s love for the jedi order as his family, is one of the core values of the character, and that truly means as family, he bickers with them, he goes against their wishes sometimes, but he loves them, and he’s a filial son of the jedi order, he is driven by his love for his family and the goals they have, obi-wan believes in the jedi, and that’s not blind loyalty or being a yes-man, but simply that he truly believes, and it’s the foundation of his character, (via @gffa)#it’s always important to remember that romantic love#while it can be very nice#does NOT make one ‘more human’#there are MANY forms of love (via @allthingskenobi)Romantic love is wonderful and magical, but familial love, friendship love, selfless love, and love for yourself, all of them are wonderful and magical and just as worthwhile and just as satisfying. There’s nothing missing about a character (or a real person /aro hand waving in the air) who doesn’t have a romantic relationship as the center of their life, a character is just as wonderful and magical and awesome if their focus is on their family and their cherished duty to the galaxy and I love this gifset so much for celebrating that. And whether or not you ship Obi-Wan with people doesn’t affect that, you can enjoy allllll the Obi-Wan ships (I’m not shy about joining in on that!) while also celebrating that he is not lesser or only lived half a life if he didn’t put romance as the most important kind of love.Obi-Wan Kenobi’s life was defined by love–love for his Jedi Order family, love for his duty to the galaxy, love for the people he considered closest to him, love for his friends–and that makes him a wonderful character. -- source link
