We’re going to run out of food, Connor.”Julian freezes.“So you suggest we leave altogether?” his father demands.“It worked last time,” his mother says.“Allison!” his father raises his voice. “I thought we agreed we’d stay!”“We agreed that when we weren’t besieged by monsters!” his mother raises her voice right back. “Now we have to do something to keep the kids safe, and you want to stay here!”“Now that’s not true at all,” his father says voice growing louder and louder, “I had perfectly reasonable plans—”His mother shushes him.
