peashooter85:Whipping Tom and the Serial Spankers of 17th and 18th century EnglandOne of the most unusual crime waves in history was a series of serial spankers who preyed upon women in late 17th/early 18th century London. Known as “Whipping Toms”, such criminals would prey upon women, typically those who were alone in dark streets. A Whipping Tom would sneak upon the woman, and when the moment was right, assault and restrain the woman, spanking her repeatidly on the bottom. The Whipping Tom would then making a hasty retreat, disappearing into the night before law enforcement could respond. The first Whipping Tom’s occurred in the 1670’s. In 1681 London was terrified by a serial spanker who attacked scores of women throughout Central London. He was especially known for shouting “Spanko! Spanko!” during the attacks, and even had a female accomplice known as “Switching Jone”. The police were unable to capture the serial spanker, causing Londoners to form night watches and women to arm themselves. Finally after a number of attacks, a local haberdasher and his wife were discovered to be the perpetrators, their names lost to history.Over the next several decade spanking attacks continued throughout England. Then in 1712 another serial spanker appeared on the streets of Hackney, spanking scores of women between October 1st and December 1st of that year. His plan was to spank 100 women before Christmas, then resume after the new. On December 1st he was caught and revealed to be a local man named Thomas Wallis, who later confessed to 70 spankings. -- source link
