kate-wisehart:ramiel-the-fallen:queendanneelackles:x#OH YEAH BESTIALITY #SO FUNNY #SO PROGRESIVE #SO BRAVE#you know there is something wrong with a show#when they’d rather make bestiality hints than allow a lead to be biYou know there is something wrong with a fanbase when they try to force a homosexual relationship that was never originally intended onto a show. You know there is something wrong with a fanbase when fans send so many messages to writers that they delete their Twitter to avoid the manic fans. You know there is somethign wrong with the fanbase when they make the actors extremely uncomfortable by asking the same questions about a fictional homosexual couple that isn’t even canon. You know there is something wrong with a fanbase when they take something humerous and try to turn it into some big statement about homosexuality. This wasn’t about being brave or progressive. It was a joke. Don’t use it to push your ship on the writers, the fandom, or the actors. I ship Destiel too but maybe it’s time some fans took a step fucking back. This isn’t about destiel. I mean, to some people it probably is, which whatever, man, I can’t stop the assholes. The anger I and other queer fans of SPN felt wasn’t about destiel. It wasn’t about destiel. IT WASN’T ABOUT DESTIEL AND THE MINUTE YOU FUCKERS GET THAT THROUGH YOUR GODDAMN SKULLS IS THE MINUTE WE AS A FANDOM CAN COEXIST SEMIPEACEFULLY.We are angry because the PTB have very literally said that in order for Dean or Sam or Cas to be bisexual/pansexual/anything that isn’t heterosexual it would have to serve the plot (because that’s what I do when I wake up every morning; try to figure out how to serve someone’s plot!). Their heterosexuality doesn’t serve the plot, Cas having dubconny hetero-appearing sex with a reaper doesn’t serve the plot, a professional sex worker forgetting to collect payment from soulless!Sam doesn’t serve the plot, but queer people have the serve the plot to get any sort of representation whatsoever? It doesn’t serve the plot to have a shitty bestiality joke that made everyone in my household super-uncomfortable; there are tons of non-gross ways to show that Dean is becoming very doglike here. The dog could have come over to sniff his butt and he could have let him and when Sam goes WTF??? Dean could have been like, “this is how we say hi, just let it go.” Boom, non-gross doglike characteristic. Instead they went with a bestiality joke. What SPN’s narrative is telling queer people is that it’s more socially acceptable for Dean to express sexual interest in a DOG, even as a JOKE, than in another male-identifying person. It could be anyone: Castiel, Garth, Aaron, Kevin, anyone, but no, instead they went with a dog.If you can’t get that, I’m sorry, especially since I explained it in veryveryvery simple terms.Outright gay people are one in ten. If you use “queer” as an identifier, meaning gay, lesbian, bi/pansexual, asexual, demisexual, gray-asexual, questioning, heteroflexible, and all of the other non-strictly-hetero sexual identities out there, that statistic raises to three in ten. That’s almost thirty percent of the population that SPN is spitting on.No wonder we’re pissed. -- source link
