Ihlenfeldtia excavataThe small genus Ihlenfeldtia is a split-off from the larger genus Cheiridopsis, and this plant was previously named Cheiridopsis vanbredai. What I find so amazing about it is the way the flowers change color, starting out pale pink with a light yellow center, then progressing to a pale coppery-orange, then a deeper orange. It really doesn’t look like those flowers should all belong to the same plant. It is a member of the Ice Plant Family (Aizoaceae) native to the inland part of South Africa’s Northern Cape Province.-Brian -- source link
