lionofchaeronea:Roman marble sculpture of the Trojan prince Ganymede, abducted by Zeus/Jupiter to serve as cupbearer to the gods. Only the head is original, and comes from a statue group representing Ganymede’s abduction; the bust and pedestal are modern additions. The pose is a mirror image of a sculpture of Paris by the 4th cent. BCE Greek sculptor Euphranor, hence the incorrect identification on the pedestal. Artist unknown; 2nd cent. CE. Found near the tomb of Caecilia Metella on the Via Appia, south of Rome; now in the Louvre. -- source link
