wicoppi:I had a day off from work. And. Guys. I did a thing. Introducing: Keith’s Desert Shack Known colloquially as a sad excuse for a home. Though. If I’m being honest, this was once the Cadillac of shacks. Just look at that clerestory window. This project was really fun for me since I was working with visual cues rather than written ones. To create this, I used the shack scenes from S1E1 Pilot and S2E8 Blade of Marmora Trial. A few things to note: First, I based the size of the shack off of (1) how many people could fit in it and (2) the beams seen in the roof of the shack- beams generally are placed around 12’-0” on center and there’s roughly 2’-0” on either end making this space a whomping 16’-0” x 16’-0” Second, there were a few illustration errors. The first was a small window located adjacent to Keith’s conspiracy board. Since it’s only shown in one clip in the pilot and not shown on the exterior facade, I elected to leave it off the plan view. The second error required more thought. From the exterior facade, we can see the front wall has a door and a large-ish window on it. But when we get a better look at this wall’s interior in S2E8 we see a desk, door, and a significant lack of window. I couldn’t chalk this up as a blip since the exterior facade is seen multiple times so what I ended up doing was locating the door closer to the center of the wall to allow for the desk and window. Next item is the unit located next to the shack. My first instinct was that this is some kind of storage unit. But after I noticed the lack of outhouse, I thought this may be more of a “bunker” situation with a small, but usable, bathroom that also has a storage component with a proper seal so Keith can store his more valuable items away from weather. Lastly, furniture. I’m pretty sure this furniture was lifted from a 1970’s principal’s office- the aesthetic is too appropriate for it to be anything else. That or maybe they were just trying to match the dated equipment in the shack? Either way, it amuses me. -- source link
