Day 10 of 31 days of my favorite scary movies is the 2008 Swedish film Let the Right One In. This is a close contender for my favorite vampire movie of all time. Several authors and filmmakers have dealt before with the issue of a vampire turned before they reach physical and mental maturity, but I don’t know that it has ever been done in a way that felt this real to me before. Both Lina Leandersson (who plays the young/old vampire) and Kåre Hedebrant (who portrays the boy she befriends) really manage to capture the difficulties of being 12 which adults often forget and the very real friendships that can form at that age. Let the Right One in blends bits and pieces of classic vampire lore with a more contemporary take on the creatures.The stark setting of Sweden in winter is the perfect backdrop for this bleak though sometimes hopeful tale.  -- source link
