carolandschateau: Carolands Studio or Salon Bleu was originally the Study of Harriett Pullman Carolan (painted by John Singer Sargent, 1913). The exquisite boiseries were carved for her in France and installed here the following year in 1915. Mario Buatta was the interior decorator under the 2002 restoration, he selected this “Marie-Antoinette Bleu” (similar to the blue used in the Queen’s Petit Trianon Boudoir). This color that perfectly highlights the magnificent wood panel carvings. Harriett was an ardent Francophile who wanted to build Carolands as her own personal tribute to her heroine Marie-Antoinette and to all the artistic Glories of France or “a toutes les gloires de la France.” Vivé-La-France ⚜ Carolands.org -- source link
