thebicycletree: #bridgetonowhere Done and dusted! We were the first group through this spring after massive flood damage. D.O.C have been dynamiting sections of track to clear debris and there were many slips and washouts to negotiate with certain-death falls of 100m or more to the gorge floor below. After a month of sickness and injury (with virtually no riding) I was apprehensive about successfully completing a 70km ride with 15 hard-charging friends, but I got through it. I rode my CX bike because it’s geared and as it turned out had no trouble keeping up with the mountain bikes. My skinny WTB Nano 40s were awesome in the bogs and slop, never let go once! At day’s end, wet, cold and tired, we met the jetboat down on the river for a ride to the lodge - no roads out here in the middle of nowhere. #mangapuruatrack #wanganuiriver #thenewzealandcycletrail #raetihi #mountainbike #newzealandisempty by antoinepethers http://ift.tt/1Fi2Ybg -- source link
