LMP-PIST 41/44 Furer Submachinegun,A short recoil open bolt design, the Furer Submachine gun was designed Rudolf Furer at Waffenfabrik, Bern (Switzerland). Chambered for 9mm Luger, the weapon fired from a right side mounted 40 round magazine. The action used a side mounted toggle system, similar to that of the Luger Pistol (see pic 3). It was made with milled parts rather than stamped and featured wooden furniture which had a pistol grip and forward grip. At the time the Furer Submachinegun was one best submachine guns in the world. It was also one of the costliest and hardest to manufacture in the world. Attempts were made to simplify the design, but after about 10,000 were produced, the Swiss military decided to use other submachine guns instead. The Furer SMG would serve the Swiss military until the late 1960’s. -- source link
