longingandheartacheandlust: hyperactivehedgehog: longingandheartacheandlust: highevre: roach being iconic I have the tragic issue that I cannot take this scene as intended I used to breed horses, and we trained all of them to back without a rider, following a hand/voice command. And they always do it with that very specific measured step, that you’d never ever see a horse do if it was actually #noping. There’s a person standing behind that conveniently placed tree either wiggling the end of a lead rope or thrusting their palm forward and probably saying “back - back - ” and the Roach actress is a Good Girl looking forward to her pats and that is all I can see Honestly that makes that scene even better because it means Roach isn’t even impressed by the horrifying spider monster she’s just been trained by Geralt to retreat when this sort of thing happens Either that or the spider monster accidentally made the gesture that Geralt always uses The image of the kikimora accidentally giving Roach a “back” command is absolutely hilarious, as is the concept that Roach is like “life with a Witcher is already so goddamn weird” and accepts it as perfectly reasonable to take commands from Ugly Shelob. (Also, I keep intending to write a long-ass post about what special training a Witcher’s horse might receive.) -- source link
