Mann Accuracy Device,The Mann Accuracy Device was a mechanism used by US Army Ordnance for studying cartridge pressures and ballistics. It was basically an 03A3 Springfield that was cut down and rechambered, most commonly in 7.62NATO, but they were also used in their original .30-06, .30 carbine, and .22 Hornet. The stock was cut off into a pistol grip so that they could be viced down in a special device which would hold the gun completely steady when firing. A large extra heavy barrel was also added. Today these oddities are actually being sold by the Civilian Marksmanship Program with starting bids at $600-$1,000. -- source link
