So every single one of those little bits of fabric is hand sewn together, and by my very rough calculations that’s almost 3000 triangles in the top one, and closer to 3500 diamonds in the second one.So… I’ve cut out nearly 3000 triangles and have begun to sew them together.This is a long term project (and I’ve put it away for the moment to work on other things) but eventually I will have my own version of that first dressing gown!I finally drafted my pattern for this, and then measured the approximate surface area and calculated how many triangles I’d need. Hoo boy did I guess wrong! While I still think the original has about 3000, I must have made my triangles a bit smaller than the original ones, because my calculator says I’ll need 6151. I’ve got 3128 cut out, so I’ve got a lot more to do!(I also think my original guess for how many diamonds the second one has was way too low) -- source link
