needs-more-pony:little-rose-pond:For Pete’s sake, it’s all red!I’m pretty sure this quote polarizes people. Most people are like Sweetie Bell. Who think distinctions like that are ridiculous. And then you have artists, who are all “Well, cherry and cinnamon aren’t red! Get it right!”I’m part of the latter group, I’m afraid. Those are all dramatically different colors.Which demonstrates a bit of the hypocrisy in people. They like the things that artists create, but they rarely appreciate the astute perception that goes with it. They don’t realize how a different shade of color can dramatically effect the appearance of something, and will make or break a piece of art.The layman will see it, and not be impressed by it, but they’ll never know or understand why. An artist knows exactly why, it’s because you chose cinnamon and not carmine! In general, if you’re not an artist you have to at least partially trust that artists know what they’re doing. Either through practice or natural talent, they can probably see things you can’t.There is a method to our madness.I’m Red-Green Colorblind. I can’t even tell Red appart from Green! Don’t try to force me to memorize a thousand different shades of what’s all really the same color. -- source link
