echiromani:MacuteoThis smaller obelisk, about 20 feet tall, was one of a pair from the Temple of Ra in Heliopolis, the other being the now much shorter Matteiano. It bears the name of Ramses II, the greatest builder-pharaoh.In Roman times, it was moved to the Temple of Isis near today’s Church of Santa Maria sopra Minerva. It was rediscovered before the Renaissance, in 1373, near the Church of San Macuto and erected east of Santa Maria in Aracoeli on the Capitoline. It was moved to its current location in front of the Pantheon by Pope Clement XI in 1711. -- source link
