The chosen player would either kneel and rest his head on the lap of a sitting woman, or kneel blind folded. The rest of the party would then line up behind the player. The first person in line would yell aloud “hot cockles!”, “hot cockles!”, then proceed the smack the player in the bum as hard as he or she could with either a paddle or a bare hand.
