You may remember Ms. Codex 1065 from a previous post on its peeking faces and pointing manicules. Today we have instead some fantastic zoomorphic initials, found on fols. 142r, 143r, 145r, and 146v, as well as on other pages throughout the manuscript. Ms. Codex 1065 is a bible probably written in England, between ca. 1240 and 1250. The bible has been annotated with references to works of Albertus Magnus, the glossa ordinaria, and the Sentences of Peter Lombard, in a number of hands from the 13th through 15th centuries, likely by Dominican owners or readers. To see the previous post see the link here; http://upennmanuscripts.tumblr.com/post/124068051425/well-hello-there-ms-codex-1065-is-a-bibleFor manuscript description and digitized images please see OPenn; http://openn.library.upenn.edu/Data/PennManuscripts/html/mscodex1065.html -- source link
