Happy birthday to Thomas Paine! Born on this day in 1737, Paine was one of the leading minds of the Age of Enlightenment and the Revolutionary Era. After contributing to the American cause through his wildly popular pamphlet propaganda, he moved to France for most of the 1790s, where he continued to write treatises on freedom, including The Rights of Man.
