growninhaiti:I swear the starfruit have a year long season here. This tree hasn’t been fruitless for more then a month or two since it started producing. And every time it flowers, even more fruits show. I’m expecting for this tree to someday have more fruit then leaves There are two main types of star fruit aka carambola: the small sour (or tart) type and the larger sweet type. The sour varieties have a higher oxalic acid content than the sweet type. They do get sweeter if allowed to fully ripen on the tree. The juice of the more acidic sour types can be used to clean rusty or tarnished metal (especially brass) as well as bleach rust stains from cloth. They may also be used as a mordant in dyeing.#growninhaiti #starfruit #carambola #karambol #haiti #ayiti #fruit #exotic #tropical #exoticfruit #tropicalfruit #yearround #season #yellow #organic #star #foodforest #nogmos #nopesticides #noherbicides #rust #reforestation #preservation #harvest #abundance #variety https://www.instagram.com/p/BpWsNdAHuuy/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=g8foyt7pwgye -- source link
