A modern statue depicting Viriathus (d. 139 BCE), a Lusitanian leader who fought against invading Roman armies in Central Spain between 147 and 139 BCE. Very little is known about him although according to tradition he was originally a shephard and hunter. He is believed to come from a region that is nowadays central Portugal. The photo above is also taken there, at the city of Viseu. Source: Nuno Tavares [CC BY-SA 2.5 (https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/2.5)] -- source link
