Startled, I looked up, but he shook his head, gesturing for me to put my head back down. “Don’t move,” he directed. “Just tell me what you’re thinking about when you’re kneeling there at my feet.” “You,” I said automatically. “I’m thinking about you.” “But *what* are you thinking about?” he asked again. “Tell me more. Tell me everything. Just talk.” I took a deep breath and closed my eyes. The floor was hard under my knees. I could feel the warmth of his body standing over me. “Be specific,” he insisted. “I want every little thought. Just talk and let the words spill out.” This was harder than I thought. The words were a knot in my throat, choking me with their insistence.
