Conservators and preparators work to install a wall of graphic material by Egyptian graphic artist, Ganzeer. Interwoven with Arabic, the text of the central image reads “Not yours to touch no matter how naked I am.” Ganzeer directs attention toward rape culture and misogyny and describes the piece as confronting the “sad misconception among many men (and even some women unfortunately) that if a girl dresses revealingly then she’s fair game, and there for anyone to touch or worse.” Agitprop! artists like @ganzeer are committed to making visible uncomfortable knowledge in the hope for social change and political engagement. See their work, on view December 11th.Posted by Laura Hillegas -- source link
