tigerskinsandotherthings:mgkesi:notapitbull:weaselwoman:huskyhuddle:oliveramy:laughingsquid:An Unusual Dog With a Pit Bull Head and a Dachshund Body Is Up for Adoption in GeorgiaJust no…I’m still really grossed outI feel bad for it. His ears are even cropped too (or so it looks anyways)… That means someone must have knew what they bred (A “pit bull” X Dachshund), then got rid of it anyways. Here’s that “Pit Bull” x Dachshund that’s been going around. No idea why the poor thing was needlessly cropped, but I assume it’s because the owner thought their “Pit Bull” wasn’t going to look like something out of a cartoon when he matured.. lolThis dog just looks so bizarre. I had the same thought when I saw the cropped ears though, it made me wonder if it was a deliberate breeding. On the other end of the spectrum, this is a greyhound x staffy mix.Apparently “bull lurchers” are popular in some areas for hunting.Bull lurchers are big in the UK and Ireland for hunting. They’re mainly used for bigger game like fox and deer (legal in Ireland but illegal in the UK as of 2005, although it still happens.) They’re also illegally used to bait badgers. Of course, they’re also used for other legal hunting, but today they do tend to be the go-to cross for poaching/baiting. Unlike that dachshund cross, bull lurchers are not a fad cross and have been purposefully bred for hundreds of years. This cross was so popular that even so-called “pure” whippets and greyhounds in England sometimes carried some bull terrier blood back in the 19th and early 20th century. -- source link
