A young boy on a farm in Cimarron County, Oklahoma, 1936. This area was at the center of the Dust Bowl, a phenomenon in which a drought combined with the plowing up of the prairie grasses that had held in the soil led to much of the precious topsoil simply blowing away, leaving behind desert-like conditions as seen above.
