One nice experience I had in Hoi An was the cooking class I took this morning with my traveling buddies Donna and Adam. We did the class with Thien Thun Cooking School and it was a blast! First thing our class (8 students) and our guide went to public market and bought ingredients for our meals. It wasn’t super exciting, and I was falling asleep from the lack of coffee. After the market we took a boat to the island which took about 30 min. Pretty nice but with today’s weather a bit chilly and wet. After arriving to the island we went by rowboats another 10 min to the school. First at the school’s garden we were shown how to separate rice from its husks and then we made fresh rice milk. Pretty exciting! Then we made 4 dishes, first being the salad rolls. I gotta say this was the best salad roll I have ever ate and I can’t believe I made it! Other students agreed with me that the rolls were the best they have eaten in Vietnam as well. The herbs used in the rolls were right from the garden next to the school! -- source link
